But across the North West, we keep seeing the same critical issue on live sites. The skills gap is widening, and the traditional pipeline is broken. Young people are turning up with certificates, but no real understanding of site culture, discipline, or practical reality.

The "Boots for Yoots" (B4Y) Initiative
You can't build a career with cheap, plastic tools that snap on the first day. Through the B4Y initiative, every apprentice who passes their initial compliance gate (CSCS/IOSH) is issued their own professional gear.
The Universal Site Foundation: Every candidate receives S3-rated steel-toe site boots, Class 3 high-vis PPE, heavy-duty tool belts, and the essential hand tools to safely step onto a STRUCTURA-managed site.
The Trade-Specific Kits: Once a pathway is chosen, candidates are issued professional-grade kits to execute their trade:

Joinery: Estwing hammers, Bahco saws, bevel-edge chisels.

Plumbing: Water pump pliers, adjustable spanners, pipe slices.

Plastering: Pre-worn stainless steel finishing trowels, margin trowels, snips.

Roofing: Specialist slate axes, chalk lines, and slater's rippers.
